In The Northeast The Storm Is Gone, But Problems Remain

HARTFORD, Conn. (February 12, 2013)--Some snow-weary Northeasterners were still struggling through their morning commutes Tuesday, even though the storm is long gone.

Many local roads in Connecticut remain partially blocked by snow, especially in the cities

The snow piles reduced driving lanes, made parking spaces scarce and decreased drivers' sight lines.

Schools in Hartford, New Haven, Bridgeport and Waterbury will remain closed Tuesday.

But further south, things are looking brighter for commuters.

In suburban New York City, Long Island Rail Road is operating on a regular weekday schedule on all branches, and Metro-North Railroad was almost back to full service, expanding it to some snowy Connecticut communities.
