BOSTON (March 19, 2013)--A last blast of late winter weather was blowing through the Northeast Tuesday.
Snow and sleet delayed the start of school in some areas and made the morning commute an icy, slippery mess a day before spring starts.
Some schools in upstate New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut were closed Tuesday, the last day of winter.
The forecast calls for as much as 20 inches of snow in parts of northern New England, with lesser amounts mixed with freezing rain further south.
The wintry mix was causing traffic slowdowns for commuters around the region.
Power outages were at a minimum early Tuesday.
