KILLEEN (January 8, 2013) --- The bad weather kept first responders busy with wrecks Tuesday as they prepared for more rain through the night.
The Killeen Fire Department's Swift Water Rescue Team was put on standby for Tuesday night as well as additional staff to respond to accidents.
In the past the swift water rescue team has rescued stranded motorists from flooded roadways in and around Killeen.
"Right now we're doing gear checks and doing a check on the boat making sure everything is operational and ready to go so when the call does come in there's no delay and we can go ahead and go out," team member Justin Todd said.
The City of Killeen Street Department also prepared flood-prone areas with caution signs and barricades to warn drivers.
Some of the areas to avoid in and around Killeen during flash floods include FM 3219 near Nolan Creek, Cunningham Road at Little Nolan Road, Dimple Street, and the Highway 190 access road heading westbound near Trimmier Road.
