Minor Flooding Still Possible Here After Stormy Night

(February 4, 2012)—The National Weather Service issued a flood warning late Saturday morning for the Little River in Cameron after storms rolled through overnight that produced heavy rain and one possible tornado in Central Texas.

The flood warning is in effect from Saturday evening until Monday morning, the weather service said.

The river was 11 feet below flood stage Saturday morning, but is expected to rise to flood stage by Saturday night and rise to a crest near 32 feet by Sunday.

Lowland flooding is possible, but no serious flooding is expected, the weather service said.

Saturday morning in Milam County FM 908 South at Reeces Creek, FM 908 North at Brush Creek, FM 487 at Bahala farm and FM 486 South at Brushy Creek were closed because of high water.

In Williamson County, road flooding was reported and two houses on 2nd Street in Taylor were evacuated because of rising water, the weather service said.

A possible tornado struck Snook in Burleson County Friday night, causing extensive damage to a Fedex facility, the weather service said.

Trees and power lines were downed and about 100 residents lost power in the area, KBTX-TV reported.

There were reports of widespread flooding in Brazos County, College Station and on the Texas A&M University campus.

At the height of the storm Friday night, fire broke out in a recently closed restaurant in Bryan, causing extensive damage.

Nearly 20 firefighters battled the fire late into the night at the building at 4501 South Texas Ave.

No injuries were reported.

The cause is under investigation.
