MIAMI (September 25, 2012)--Hurricane Miriam was a Category 2 storm Tuesday and still churning well off Mexico's Baja California peninsula.
Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center in Miami said Miriam was packing top sustained winds near 105 miles per hour early Tuesday and was centered about 405 miles southwest of the southern tip of the Baja peninsula.
The center says Miriam was moving northwest at 6 miles per hour.
No coastal watches or warnings were in effect, but ocean swells will impact Baja's southern and western shore over the coming days.
In the open Atlantic, Tropical Storm Nadine was meandering far from land with top sustained winds of about 45 miles per hour.
