New Braunfels Tightens Water Use Restrictions

NEW BRAUNFELS (July 27, 2013)--The persistent drought has forced New Braunfels Mayor Gale Pospisil to limit homeowners to using sprinklers or irrigation systems only once every two weeks.

A well that monitors the city's water source, the Edward Aquifer, dropped nearly a foot on Friday, more than 5 feet below the level at this time last year and more than 21 feet below the average.

Lawn watering was already limited to once a week.

The first week without any sprinkler use begins Aug. 19.
