The depression was about 845 miles southwest of the southern tip of Baja California with maximum sustained winds of 35 miles per hour and it was moving west at 10 miles per hour.

Officials say it could become a tropical storm sometime Sunday.

The eastern Pacific hurricane season ends Nov. 30.
