New Power Outages Reported As Storm Sweeps The Northeast Coast

NEW YORK (November 7, 2012)--The number of homes and businesses without electricity in the Northeast was climbing again Wednesday evening as a wintry storm swept the coast.

Utilities in New York City and Long Island reported that the nor'easter that hit Wednesday knocked out power to about 48,000 customers.

Some of those had just gotten it back after losing service to Superstorm Sandy more than a week ago.

New Jersey utilities were also reporting scattered outages.

Some customers also complained they had just gotten their lights back only to lose them again.

At the peak of the outages from Sandy, more than 8.5 million customers lost power.

Before the nor'easter hit that number was down to 675,000, mostly in New Jersey and New York.
