MIAMI (October 22, 2012)--A tropical depression formed Monday south of Jamaica and forecasters say it will likely strengthen into a named storm.
The National Hurricane Center in Miami said Monday the depression was about 320 miles south of Kingston, Jamaica with winds of 30 miles per hour.
It is expected to become a tropical storm later Monday and drift westward before heading toward Jamaica on Tuesday night or early Wednesday.
Forecasters say the system could be near hurricane strength as it approaches Jamaica.
