The National Hurricane Center in Miami said Monday the depression was about 320 miles south of Kingston, Jamaica with winds of 30 miles per hour.

It is expected to become a tropical storm later Monday and drift westward before heading toward Jamaica on Tuesday night or early Wednesday.

Forecasters say the system could be near hurricane strength as it approaches Jamaica.
