Program Will Provide Trees To Texas Families Hit By Drought, Fire

CONROE (November 30, 2012)—Free trees will be given to hundreds of families in three Texas counties hit hard by the 2011 drought and wildfires.

The trees will be distributed to pre-registered families through Texas ReLeaf in Grimes, Montgomery and Waller Counties, funded by a partnership between the Texas A&M Forest Service and Anheuser-Busch.

ReLeaf is much more than a tree giveaway,” said Texas A&M Forest Service Urban District Forester John Warner, who developed the program.

“Yes, we want to re-green these communities. But more importantly, we hope to use these trees to revive community spirit and inspire hope.”

Another 500 trees will be distributed in March.

The trees will be distributed from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 8.
