PAMPLONA, Spain (July 12, 2014) Three people were hospitalized after several thousand people tested their courage by dashing alongside six fighting bulls through the slippery, rain-soaked streets of the northern city of Pamplona in the sixth running of the bulls at Spain's San Fermin festival.
Municipal workers applied an anti-slip coating to the cobblestones of the narrow streets in an attempt to lessen injuries after rain fell overnight.
No one was gored on Saturday but one runner was taken to hospital with a suspected bone fracture, Spanish Red Cross spokesman Jose Aldaba said.
The nine-day street-partying festival was immortalized in Ernest Hemingway's 1926 novel "The Sun Also Rises."
