ARLINGTON (August 15, 2014) The American Red Cross announced Friday that it will open a Disaster Field Supply Center in Arlington that will house enough items to support as many as 100,000 disaster victims.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held next Wednesday at the 174,000-square-foot facility located midway between Dallas and Fort Worth.
Spokeswoman Anita Foster says the warehouse will be used to store thousands of cots, blankets, personal hygiene items, cleanup kits, coolers and cooking supplies.
It will also be a site for blood drives.
Similar Red Cross supply centers are already situated in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Missouri and Nevada.
