Rusty Garrett here with the weekend outlook: Saturday will be the milder of the two days. Sun and clouds will be the rule with early weekend highs in the mid 80s. Back to the low to mid 90s on Sunday!
NEW ORLEANS (September 26, 2013)--Anglers across the Gulf of Mexico will be able to resume red snapper fishing in federal waters next week, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said Thursday.
A 14-day season will open at 12:01 a.m. local time on Tuesday, Oct. 1, NOAA said.
NOAA raised the total allowable catch from 8.46 million pounds to 11 million pounds earlier this month, when it set the season.
Just more than half of the quota goes to commercial fishermen.
NOAA Fisheries said commercial boat owners will get their new individual fishing quotas on Tuesday or shortly afterward.
For recreational anglers, there's a two fish daily limit and a minimum size of 16 inches.
