Runoff From Recent Rains Cause A Logjam In The Brazos

WACO (February 1, 2012)—The cost of clearing tree limbs and other debris washed down the Brazos River and up against Waco’s low-water dam could be as much as $25,000, city officials said.

Heavy runoff from recent rains has caused a logjam at the dam.

City water spokesman Jonathan Echols told the Waco Tribune-Herald that excessive debris around the dam could raise the Brazos water level behind the dam.

He said he has no evidence that's about to happen, but clearing the debris away from the dam to allow the river to flow is still prudent.
