Snow Storm Closes Highway, Schools

LOS ANGELES (February 20, 2013)--A 35-mile stretch of Highway 58 between Mojave and Bakersfield, Calif, remained closed Wednesday and officers will have check the road to see when they might be able to reopen it, the California Highway Patrol said.

Students in several areas of Southern California, including Hesperia, are getting a day off Wednesday because of snow.

CHP officers have re-closed Interstate 5 on the Grapevine because of snow.

It was also snowing sporadically in Cajon Pass but it is still open.

Hundreds of vehicles had to stop when Highway 58 was closed after the weather quickly turned white around 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Road crews helped drivers exit near Tehachapi.

The CHP said no one has been injured and nobody was trapped in the snow.
