GAUTIER, Miss. (April 15, 2014) A storm packing powerful straight-line winds overturned about a dozen campers at around 8 p.m. Monday in the coastal Mississippi community of Gautier.
Police Capt. Jerry Cooksey told the newspaper that emergency responders went from trailer to trailer looking for anyone trapped or hurt.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or deaths.
National Weather Service meteorologist Robert Ricks says straight-line winds of about 50 miles per hour overturned the RVs and that none of them was tied down.
He said the weather service doesn't believe it was a tornado.
A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect in advance of a strong cold front.
