Storms Cause Power Outages In Austin Area

AUSTIN (April 8, 2014) Thousands of homes and businesses in the Austin area were without power after thunderstorms rolled through the area Monday night.

On Tuesday Austin Energy reported that about 1,700 customers were still without power after the bad weather.

The utility had about 12,000 outages Monday night as storms brought down branches and caused some scaffolding to collapse at a construction site.

Austin police and the Travis County Sheriff's Office had no immediate reports of weather-related injuries.
