HOUSTON (October 27, 2013) Storms in the Houston area knocked out electricity to more than 100,000 CenterPoint Energy customers and scattered outages affected several hundred in Central Texas late Sunday morning.
The Houston-area outages resulted from strong storms that moved through the area early Sunday, Utility spokeswoman Leticia Lowe said.
Crews worked to restore power amid the outages mainly in southwest Houston and just north of the city.
Storms soaked parts of North Texas on Saturday night.
About 4,400 customers of Dallas-based electric provider Oncor were without power Sunday after the bad weather.
The Texas-TCU football game Saturday night in Fort Worth was delayed for more than three hours because of lightning and rain.
The game ended early Sunday as the Longhorns beat TCU 30-7.
