VERACRUZ, Mexico (August 10, 2012)--The governor of Mexico's Tabasco state says many residents refused to evacuate before Tropical Storm Ernesto made landfall Thursday.
Strong winds ripped rooftops from some homes and two fishermen drowned.
Ernesto was dissipating Thursday over southern Mexico, but continued to produce heavy rain.
Thursday morning Ernesto was about 215 miles west-southwest of Veracruz with maximum sustained winds of 25 miles per hour.
The remnants of the storm are expected to move into the eastern Pacific where they could reorganize into a tropical storm in a day or two, forecasters said.
