LUBBOCK (May 3, 2013)--Crews will take down a 150-foot wind- light tower at Texas Tech's football stadium that was damaged by wind as the university keeps people away from the site for safety reasons.
A crane was being used Friday at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock to lower the light tower and examine the damage.
Winds topping 40 miles per hour Thursday damaged part of the southeast light tower at the stadium that seats more than 60,000.
Nearby structures were evacuated as a precaution.
Nobody was hurt.
Workers at the south end zone office building, the football training facility and the athletic training center were told not to report to those sites Friday until the area has been certified as safe.
