CLIFTON, Texas (KWTX) - State troopers are investigating a fatal crash on Highway 6 near FM 2136 in Clifton involving six motorcycles.

A DPS spokesman confirmed to KWTX Sunday afternoon, at least one biker was killed and three others were transported to area hospitals in critical condition.

According to Sgt. Ryan Howard, the accident occurred at around 3:20 p.m. when a group of motorcyclists crashed into each other while attempting to pass a vehicle traveling northbound.

“A Harley-Davidson took evasive action to avoid the crashed motorcycles and crashed into the side of a Dodge Ram traveling southbound,” said Howard. “The driver of the Harley-Davidson was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Next of kin has not been notified, Howard said, and the investigation is still active and ongoing.

Traffic in the area was reportedly backed up.

More details would be released at a later time, Howard said.
