WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Another local business owner made a donation to the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday.

Galen Huddleston with Waco Bargain Center stopped by MCSO headquarters to drop off a $1,000 check to help fund the agency’s Cold Case Unit.

“I’ve seen them on TV before, they do such a good job, and I just thought ‘I want to be a part of that,’” Huddleston told KWTX.  “I can’t go on those trips like they do and work those cases like they do, but I can help pay for some gasoline for them to go, and maybe buy them a cheeseburger or something like that.”

Since the MCSO Cold Case Unit started about 2.5 years ago, deputies have resolved about ten cases, which include questionable deaths and homicides.

“It’s going to enable us to travel and go out-of-state again and let us interview people we need to interview,” said Capt. Steve January.

January says they have binders on about 28 other unsolved cases.

“I wanted to be part of it, they’re heroes as far as I’m concerned,” said Huddleston.  “I’m glad to be on the sidelines to cheer them on, I wished other places would do that, too.”
