Police identify teenage victim of Memorial Day shooting who died at local hospital
KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) – Police Thursday identified the victim of a Memorial Day shooting in Killeen who later died at a local hospital as a 16-year-old boy.
The victim, whose identity was established through fingerprints, wasn’t named.
“Due to the age of the victim, his name will not be released,” police spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said.
Officers responding to a report of a disturbance involving gunfire just before 1:30 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Dickens Drive and Westcliff Road found the teenager on the side of the road.
The teen who was carrying no ID was taken to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, where he died.
Officers, with the help of a K-9 officer, apprehended whom police spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez described as “a person of interest” who was wanted on an unrelated warrant.
