Local health care providers celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day
KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - Scott and White Cancer and AdventHealth Central Texas held a celebration on Monday to honor and support cancer survivors and patients on National Cancer Survivors Day.
The two-hospital set up signs leading to the entrance to the cancer center, telling those coming for treatment “you rock.”
One courageous local mother who battled cancer twice and started a support group called Pink Warriors of Texas said seeing the community come out to events like this means a lot.
“As a cancer survivor myself, it’s important to have these type of community events because it shows that they are there. They want to know that they want to know and understand what a cancer survivor goes through,” said group founder Julie Moser.
PWATX has no paid staff, so all funds go to providing support for warriors and families, events, meal chains, and potential research.
PWATX is always looking for volunteers. For more information, visit www.pwatx.org.
