WACO, Texas (KWTX) - The city of Waco celebrated the MCC Highlanders for winning the 2021 JUCO World Series.

McLennan won the national championship on Friday night and the celebrations haven’t stopped since.

“Yeah it hasn’t quite slowed down yet, it is great to see this means so much to so many people,” said Mitch Thompson, head MCC baseball coach.

The team went 5-0 in Colorado to bring the MCC’s first world series trophy since 1983 all the way back to Waco.

Tuesday night, with the trophy on display, Waco mayor Dillon Meek presented MCC with a key to the city.

After the ceremony, the Highlanders signed autographs.
