KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) - An unidentified suspect who was arrested after a man was shot during what police described as a domestic altercation Monday afternoon inside a home in the 300 block of South 42nd Street in Killeen has been released “pending further investigation,” Killeen police spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said Friday.

The victim, Anthony House, 38, died just after 2 p.m. Monday at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center to which he was taken in critical condition after the shooting.

An autopsy was ordered.

Officers responded just after 12:30 p.m. Monday to a report of gunfire.

“The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect were in a domestic altercation when the suspect produced a handgun and fired at the victim,” Miramontez said Tuesday.

The deadly shooting was the city’s fifth criminal homicide of the year.
