WACO, Texas (KWTX) - A familiar face is taking over the Midway football program.

Midway announced it has hired Connally’s Shane Anderson to lead the program after former head coach Jeff Hulme resigned earlier this month to take a job with Legacy High in Mansfield.

Panther fans know Coach Anderson well - he was an assistant coach for the program from 2008-2014.

Coach Anderson helped the Panthers win the district championship every year he was there, and the team made it all the way to the 4A State Championship in 2011.

Coach Anderson has spent the last six years at Connally High School where he led one of the top 4A programs in the state of Texas.

Anderson was named District Coach of the Year in 2019 after leading the Cadets to their second undefeated regular season in the school’s history.

Anderson has also coached at Whitney, Giddings, and Tyler Legacy.

Anderson earned his bachelor’s degree from Tarleton State University. He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Karla, for 15 years. They have a 12-year-old son, Jaxon, and a 4-year-old daughter, Jeorgia.
