We don’t have much heat relief on the way for the upcoming week, as highs stay in the 90s with only small rain chances. The best chance of getting a passing shower or storm will come today and tomorrow afternoons during the heat of the day, but even then, most won’t see the rain. We all feel the heat though with heat index values between 100-105° each afternoon. Whew, take it easy and stay cool - however you can! Highs may drop a touch by the end of the week and next weekend, but even then, we’re looking at low to mid-90s. Our nights even stay on the warm side, only getting down into the the mid 70s each night this week. There should be no doubts now that we are in full-on summer weather.

We’re keeping an eye on a tropical disturbance in the Gulf that will make its way to the coastline Father’s Day Weekend. It’s looking like we won’t have much to do with this system as it looks to track east of here, but we’ll keep a close eye on it going through the next few days.

Remember to stay hydrated, wear light colored clothing, and avoid outdoor exercise during the hottest part of the day. Always be sure to check your backseat when you park, and keep your pets cool and hydrated as well. Also remember that if you cannot hold the back of your hand on the pavement for 10 seconds, the pavement is too hot for your dog’s paws.
