TYLER, Texas (KWTX) – Tyler-based Brookshire Grocery Co., which has seven stores in Central Texas, is boosting pay for most of its employees.

The company says it’s investing $33 million in wages, making the additional $1 an hour in COVID-19 appreciation pay permanent for all hourly retail and logistics employees; raising the entry-level wage for most retail positions to $11 an hour, and further increasing the minimum wage for more than 30 positions in specialty and prepared foods departments.

The company has also increased the minimum wage for courtesy and utility clerks to $9 an hour.

The family-owned company, founded in 1928 in Tyler, employs more than 13,000 and operates more than 180 stores in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas including stores in Corsicana, Alvarado, Hillsboro, Groesbeck, Whitney, Robinson and Clifton.
