DPS identifies man, woman killed in head-on collision in Bell County

BELL COUNTY, Texas (KWTX) - Macayla Meshell Bartek, 30, of Belton, and Lance Scott Jerome Walker, 46, also of Belton, were killed in an early-morning collision in Bell County, The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed.

The collision happened at about 4:15 a.m. on Sept. 25 on FM 439 about half a mile east of FM 93.

Bartek was driving a 1992 Chevrolet truck westbound on FM 439. At that same time, Walker was driving a 2020 Kia Optima eastbound. Both drivers collided head-on, DPS said.

“Investigators are still reconstructing the evidence on scene to determine which of the vehicles crossed over into the opposite lanes,” the state agency wrote in a news release.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. No other occupants were inside the vehicles at the time of the collision.

Bartek’s husband set up a GoFundMe to raise money for funeral and burial expenses.
