TYLER, Texas (KLTV) - Smith County deputies were involved in a car chase on Saturday that led to four people being taken into custody.

At about 5:20 p.m., authorities were called to assist in a chase that ended at the corner of East Commerce Street and Loop 323.

Smith County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Hatton said the chase began after an alleged drive-by shooting at an unoccupied house on Eagle Creek Circle. No motive is known at this time.

When deputies arrived, a vehicle took off, and authorities chased it from Highway 271 down Loop 323 until it crashed near East Commerce Street, Hatton said. He said no shots were fired during the chase, but several weapons were found in the car.

A gray Dodge Challenger could be seen, having come to rest at the corner of a gas station, with one wheel thrown off into the grass several yards away. Five sheriff’s vehicles were on scene.

Hatton said four people were taken into custody, two juveniles and two adults, who will face charges of deadly conduct, evading arrest and unlawfully carrying a weapon. No identities have been released at this time.
