ORIGINAL ARTICLE: The Waco Police Department has announced a partnership with the Texas Department of Public Safety and other McLennan County Police agencies in order to conduct a county wide initiative entitled “No Refusal Weekend.”

The initiative, which is set to take place from Oct. 11 to Oct. 12, will target intoxicated motorists on the roads in order to “ensure road safety and prevent impaired driving.”

During the initiative, 10 agencies are said to be patrolling the county and will apprehend any drivers under the influence. Any driver stopped will be asked to complete chemical testing such as breath and/or blood testing.

Those who try to refuse testing will be issued a warrant for blood testing, according to the Waco Police Department.

“No Refusal Weekend” is part of a broad campaign promoting safe driving and holding inebriated drivers accountable.

“We want to remind the public to make responsible choices and plan for a safe ride home if they intend to consume alcohol every day, not just this weekend,” the Waco Police Department said.
