Dog breaks world record for longest tongue: ‘Abnormally, awkwardly long’
OKLAHOMA CITY (Gray News) – A dog from Oklahoma was just crowned the Guinness World Records holder for the longest tongue.
Ozzy, a 4-year-old mastiff mix, broke the Guinness World Records record for the longest tongue on a living dog this year with his 7.83-inch tongue.
The prior record was 5.64 inches, held by Rocky the dog from Bloomington, Illinois.
The tongue is measured from the end of the snout to the tip of the tongue.

Ozzy’s family has had him since he was a puppy and has watched his tongue grow and grow.
Ozzy’s owner, Angela Pick, said his abnormally long tongue doesn’t cause any issues.
“He has always had a tongue that sticks out of his mouth, ever since he was born,” Pick told Guinness World Records. “But there’s nothing medically wrong with him, we’ve had him looked at a couple of times by a veterinarian, and there’s no dental issues or anything – it’s just abnormally, awkwardly long.”
Ozzy’s long tongue does, however, keep him from licking a lot.
“He doesn’t give kisses – he gets in your face and kind of loves and rubs noses, but he doesn’t really lick on a lot of stuff,” Pick said.
Pick’s daughter Mickinsley called Ozzy her “golden child.”
“I love it. My dog puts smiles on everybody’s faces if somebody’s having a bad day,” Mickinsley told KOKH. “It makes me really happy knowing that everybody loves my dog.”
Ozzy is named after Ozzy Osbourne because Pick’s husband and son are big fans of his music.
