Sarah Plummer, a former Special Ed teacher, was diagnosed with hormone positive breast cancer in October of last year. She expresses after her diagnosis, things moved very fast due to the aggressiveness of the disease. Just two months after being diagnosed, Sarah started chemotherapy.
In total, the race raised more than $3,200, all of which will fund screening and survivorship programs at Texas Oncology and Ascension Providence in Waco.
Other than skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer among American women. Mammograms are the best way to find breast cancer early, when it is easier to treat and before it is big enough to feel or cause symptoms.
