KWTX News 10 has an immediate open for our Bell County Bureau Chief/Reporter position. This isn’t a traditional ‘bureau’ job. Killeen is the largest city in our market, and is part of the largest county in our market. Fort Hood, the largest military installation in the free world, is located just minutes from the newsroom. We need a leader who can direct our coverage of this important area.
The job is full of opportunities to present your stories live in the bureau or in the field on the top rated television station in the market. You’ll gather, write, & edit local stories creating fresh content for our digital and on-air platforms.
The right candidate will be extremely driven, with a positive attitude, and fine-tuned storytelling skills. You must be dynamic and comfortable on-camera, with at least two years of broadcast television experience, as live presentation in the field will be an almost daily expectation.
You’ll be expected to bring fresh, enterprise stories that you can deliver each day. You’ll need to be a team player and self-starter who understands the local community and can deliver LOCAL stories. A college degree in Broadcast Journalism or its equivalent is preferred.
Writing skills for television and web are critical. Social networking knowledge is important. Experience with ENPS, Sony EX cameras, and Sony XPRI editing are a plus.
Must have valid Drivers License with good driving record. Employment is contingent on successfully passing drug screen and driving record check.
