"They do a lot of wonders for a lot of people here in Lampasas," says June Ellenburg who along with her husband, would eat at the soup kitchen every week.

The non-profit says they served 50-60 people three times a week.

Offering free meals for homeless, the poor, and anyone in need.

"Everyone is welcome, it doesn't matter what they have been through in life or where they are at in life," says volunteer Lisa Love.

The kitchen voluntarily closed their doors January 21st after being told by the city that they needed to do about $40,000 worth of upgrades.

Currently the kitchen says they are still $12,000 short of that need, and are hoping to re-open by April if they can get the funds.

"We want to get these renovations done as soon as possible and get it back open as soon as possible so we can get our family back together," says Pastor Joe Dauben who helps run the soup kitchen.

For those wishing to help the soup kitchen and donate, you can call them at 512-564-5114, or donate to their address P.O. 1089 Lampasas, TX 76550.

Organizers say you can also reach out to their Facebook page House of Forgiveness Church.
