NBA Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar coming to Central Texas

WACO, Texas (KWTX) One of the most recognizable names in professional sports is coming to Central Texas.

The McLennan Community College announced Tuesday that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will stop by the school as part of its McLennan Distinguished Lecture Series.

Abdul-Jabbar is the National Basketball Association’s all-time leading scorer, a six-time NBA champion and the league’s only six-time MVP.

President Barack Obama awarded Abdul-Jabbar the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor.

The Hall of Famer will speak on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. at the Highlands Gym.

The event is free is and open to the public but tickets are required and go on sale on Aug. 30.
