Crews from several departments were battling a smoky fire Wednesday afternoon near the Temple airport.
The fire was reported just after 12:30 p.m. along Airport Road between Research Boulevard and Highway 317.
That stretch of Airport Road was closed to traffic because of smoke from the fire.
The fire, which charred 35 to 40 acres, initially threatened some structures, but those were protected.
The fire was largely contained by around 1:45. p.m.
Officials say a truck transporting a load snagged a power line and broke a wire at around the time the fire started, but it's not clear if that's what ignited the blaze.
