Waco: Revamping the court to get veterans to the hoops

Volunteers help repaint basketball court.

Waco, Texas (KWTX) This Saturday at the Waco Veteran Affairs Medical Center, volunteers gathered to repaint the basketball court in an effort to motivate veterans to stay active.

The 36th Engineer Brigade, active duty soldiers, and families all helped out.

Voluntary Service Specialist Eva Gergely said she hopes the newly painted court will bring more veterans out to play basketball.

“We are hoping to start out adaptive sports clinic out here doing wheelchair basketball possible wheelchair tennis,” Gergely said.

Once they finish repainting the court they will be adding stencils of each branch of the military on the court. In that way, everyone is represented.
