Once, twice, three times a lady...BEAR that is.

The Baylor Lady Bears celebrated their third national women's basketball championship with a parade in their honor Thursday evening.

"I love Waco, I love what you mean to us, I love what you mean to Lady Bear basketball," Head Coach Kim Mulkey told fans. "I cannot do it without ya."

The parade down Austin Avenue from 11th Street to 3rd Street lasted about 15 minutes as players and staff, driven in luxury cars, waved to hundreds of adoring fans.

"It's important to support the women in sports, especially Lady Bear basketball," said super fan Kim Falcone. "And Kim Mulkey's a winner!"

Fans say the team, and Mulkey, are the pride of Baylor University.

"She's my favorite coach, I think she oughta coach every sport at Baylor," said Hallsburg resident Brenda Busby.

Hosted by the City of Waco, the red carpet was rolled out (literally) for the girls in green and gold at the parade's terminus in front of Waco City Hall.

"I do hereby proclaim April 18, 2019 as Baylor Lady Bears National Championship Day in the City of Waco!" Mayor Kyle Deaver told the crowd.

The Lady Bears beat Notre Dame April 4, 82-81, clenching the NCAA title.

The team is already talking about a repeat next season.

"Give us a few months rest and we'll go for number four!" said Mulkey.
