Killeen: Teenager dies of injuries from deadly crash

A teenager who was critically injured in a weekend crash in Killeen that claimed the life of a 21-year-old man has died at a local hospital.

Vivian Michelle Gonzalez, 19, died Monday afternoon at Scott & White Medical Center in Temple, police said Tuesday.

She was a passenger in a 2015 Hyundai Elantra that was struck by a 2020 Nissan Armada whose driver ran a red light at around 11 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of State Highway 195 and Chaparral Road in Killeen.

Patrick Lee Stephens, 21, the driver of the Hyundai, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.’

Gonzalez was taken first to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center and then was transferred to Scott & White.

The three people riding in the Armada suffered minor injuries.

A preliminary investigation found that Stephens was turning left off Chaparral Road onto Highway 195 when the driver of the northbound Armada ran the light at the intersection.

The Armada struck the Hyundai broadside.
