WACO, Texas (KWTX) Looking for weekend fun? We have 10 suggestions of things around Central Texas including Toys for Tots, a visit with Santa, a tree decorating contest and much more!

The annual Toys for Tots drive kicks off this weekend! Bring new, unwrapped toy donations or monetary donations (checks made out to Toys for Tots) to the KWTX studio until December 13th. You can see KWTX’s very own, Rusty Garrett, at the Walmart in Hewitt on Friday, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Camp Caylor in Copperas Cove offers a double feature of holiday cheer this Friday for free! Bring chairs, blankets, and wear your pajamas for a free screening of Elf at 6:00 p.m. followed by another free movie - The Polar Express. Popcorn will be provided and other food and drinks will be available for purchase.

The 32nd annual Homestead Fair is this Friday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. each day.

There is fun for the whole family with make-your-own projects and demonstrations -- including sheepdog work, horse farming, pottery making, blacksmithing, woodworking, quilting, weaving, spinning, basketry, cheese making and much, much more.

To avoid that post-Thanksgiving coma, get your running shoes ready for the 2019 Feastmode 5K race is this Saturday at 8:30am in Gatesville.

The race starts and finishes at the Gatesville City Pool located at 300 S. 8th St.

The 2019 Holiday Wreath-Laying Ceremony is at 10:00 am on Saturday at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

One holiday wreath is placed on every grave to honor and remember our nation’s military heroes and their families.

Wreaths will be placed on over 8,000 graves this year with family and friends of those buried at the cemetery will lay wreaths for their loved ones first. The Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery is located at 11463 State Highway 195.

The Christmas in the Country Festival is Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Downtown Lorena.

This festival will include arts and crafts, silent auctions, world famous hamburgers, cooked by the Lorena Volunteer Fire Department, a bake sale, parade at 11 am, classic car show, and live music in the afternoon.

Santa Claus will be available for a meet and greet after the parade. The festival benefits the Lorena Volunteer Fire Department.

Enter a tree into the decorating contest at the Lampasas County Museum on Saturday between 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This year’s theme is ‘Gingerbread Jamboree’.

As you decide on your decorations, you might think of the many forms gingerbread may take (houses, cookies, people, animals); a favorite story featuring gingerbread in some way; or a jamboree (a large and boisterous celebration).

Any of these ideas, or something entirely different can be the focus of your tree or gingerbread house. Trees will be judged on December 7th.

The Museum is at 303 South Western, between Second and Third Streets.

Saturday is the last day to bring new socks and new athletic shoe donations to Freedom Jeep Chrysler in Killeen. Drop by anytime from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. They have been collecting shoes and socks for the month of November to help benefit local students in need. They will accept toddlers size 9 through adult size 14.

Santa is coming to Corsicana this Sunday! You can meet Santa at 3:00 p.m. at 114 E 3rd St and get a photo, have some milk, cookies and other sweet treats, enter the coloring contest (to win some cool prizes) and more. Event is free! Also do not forget to bring a new unwrapped toy to be donated to the Toys for Tots and also for an extra entry into our giveaway!
