A man and a woman arrested in a Bell County Organized Crime Unit investigation of the distribution of high-grade marijuana in Central Texas were both free on bond Thursday.

Desmond Evon Wilkerson, 26, and Katelyn Olivia Nicole Tolbert, 24, both of Temple were charged with possession of marijuana over 5 pounds after the investigation, which was conducted with the assistance of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Bell County sheriff’s Maj. T.J. Cruz said in a press release Thursday.

They were arrested on Tuesday, but were later released after posting $100,000 bonds.

Authorities seized about 9 pounds of high-grade marijuana with an estimated street value of $40,000 and more than $24,000 in cash during the arrest.

“This investigation is still ongoing and additional charges and arrested persons are possible,” Cruz said.
