KILLEEN, Texas (KWTX) A Killeen man is charged in the sexual assault of a 12-year-old child that happened in 2011.
37-year-old Alva Joe Gwinn is charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.
A release from the Bell County Sheriff’s department says when investigators learned of the assault from CPS, Gwinn was stationed overseas.
He returned to Fort Hood in March, 2016, and was interviewed by Bell County Sheriff’s Department investigators.
In May, Gwinn barricaded himself in a Killeen house and threatened to shoot himself if the investigation didn’t stop.
He was eventually taken into custody and transferred to Carl R. Darnall Fort Hood for evaluation.
The case was presented to the District Attorney’s office in June, leading to the charges.
Gwinn was arrested Thursday, and was being held on a $100,000 bond.
