Late-night fire leaves local couple homeless

SPEEGLEVILLE, Texas (KWTX) A late-night fire in the Speegleville area left a local couple homeless, but they and their two dogs escaped from the burning house safely.

The homeowner called 911 at around 11 p.m. Wednesday after opening the door to the back porch and discovering flames that were shooting up into the air.

The man grabbed his wife and their two dogs and quickly got out safely.

Firefighters from Speegleville, China Spring and Valley Mills responded.

They remained at the scene until around 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
