WACO, Texas (KWTX) Waco firefighters responded early Friday to a report of leaking molten glass at the Owens Illinois glass plant at 5200 Beverly Dr.

Crews were dispatched at around 4:30 a.m. Friday.

"Furnace leaking molten glass. Cooling operations in progress,” the fire department tweeted.

The glass leak was under control later in the morning.

“A glass leak at our Waco plant is under control. There were no injuries. Employees along with the local fire department responded quickly to contain the leak,” the plant’s manager, Kelly Young, said in an email.

The plant produces glass packaging for beer, wine, liquor, food and non-alcoholic beverages.
