Temple: 5K run to be held in memory of murdered friends

Jenna Scott and Michael Swearingin

TEMPLE, Texas (KWTX) In memory of Michael Swearingin and Jenna Scott, family and friends will hold a memorial 5K next month.

The memorial run will be held May 18 at Pepper Creek Trail, located at 546 Kegley Road in Temple.

"We are running in memory of Jenna Scott and Michael Swearingin on a course they enjoyed running together," a post stated.

The race will support the non-profit, Priceless Beginnings, which was also created in their memory. The non-profit provides camp scholarships for children of domestic violence victims.

Swearingin and Scott were found dead in January in rural Oklahoma after missing for 12 days. Scott's ex-boyfriend, Cedric Marks, was indicted on April 3 on one count of capital murder in connection with their deaths.

Maya Maxwell is accused of helping abandon Swearingin’s vehicle in an effort to hide it from authorities.
