A Central Texas man charged in a deadly shooting on Nov. 17, 2017 in a neighborhood just outside of Copperas Cove who told investigators “he didn’t get a good vibe” from the victim pleaded guilty to murder Friday in Gatesville.

Bobby Whitehead will be sentenced on Feb. 25 for the shooting death of Michael Steven Paradise, 31, who was gunned down after answering a knock on the door at his home on Julia Drive.

Coryell County deputies arrested Whitehead after receiving information from a confidential informant who told investigators that Whitehead told him he was driving to his ex-wife’s house when he saw Paradise near his children “and got a bad vibe,” authorities said in a press release Wednesday.

Residents said Paradise was at home with his son when the shooting happened.

The boy was not hurt.

Whitehead has remained in the Coryell County Jail since his arrest in lieu of bonds totaling more than $1 million.
