Area middle school evacuated after anonymous threat

The “potential threat” drew a large law enforcement response Friday.

WHITNEY, Texas (KWTX) Whitney Middle School was evacuated Friday morning after an anonymous threat against the campus.

Students returned to class early Friday afternoon following a law enforcement sweep of the school.

“Out of precaution, the middle school has been evacuated to the high school gym, the district said in short post on its website Friday morning.

Authorities at the scene said the district received a bomb threat.

Officers went from room to room to clear the school.

The threat drew a large law enforcement response including Hill County deputies and emergency management personnel, Department of Public Safety troopers and an explosives-sniffing K-9 team from the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office.
