Argument leads to fight, shooting; victim taken to local hospital

An argument late Thursday morning in Killeen led to a shooting in a residential neighborhood that sent one victim to a local hospital in critical condition.
Officers responded at around 11:30 a.m. Thursday to a report of gunfire in the 1700 block of Cole Street.
“Officers were told that the victim and suspect were involved in a verbal altercation that led physical. During the physical altercation, the victim was shot,” Killeen police spokeswoman Ofelia Miramontez said in a press release.
The victim was taken to AdventHealth Central Texas, she said.
No further details were released.
